The Epiphany (January 6th) actually arrived on a Sunday this year. We celebrate the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ. This celebration commemorates principally (but not solely) the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child. Children placed the Wise Men at the Nativity scene during last week’s service.
The next movement of the Symbolum Nicenum is Et in unum Dominum (And in one Lord). It’s lyrics consist of much of the second verse of the Nicene Creed; I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven.
It is a duet performed by an alto and a soprano. Two voices for the second affirmation of the Creed.
